Steven Wilkinson
Dr. Steve Wilkinson enjoys a bustling career of performing, teaching, and writing. When he isn't playing with Amity Street Brass Quintet, he can be heard performing with his tuba quartet Legato Pesante. He has concertized with several orchestras across New England, including Symphoria, New England Symphony, Nutmeg Symphony, and many others. He has also been invited to perform with Bala Brass, Sonic Brass, TubaFrau Hofbräu Band, and others.
As a teacher, he has held positions as Visiting Lecturer of Tuba and Euphonium at Cornell University and as TA at Ithaca College where he was in charge of teaching tuba and euphonium methods courses. Currently, he is cultivating and expanding his own private studio of young brass students when not developing a new music appreciation program for Monson High School or working closely with Leominster High School as their band's Brass Caption Head.
Steve is also the sole proprietor of his own DBA, Low n' Slow Publishing Co. (ASCAP), through which he self-publishes his own compositions and arrangements. Be sure to stay tuned for new works to come!
Based in Central Connecticut, Dr. Wilkinson earned his DMA at The Hartt School under the tutelage of Scott Mendoker and James Jackson. In addition, he has studied composition with Robert Carl and Daron Hagen. He earned his Master of Music Performance at Ithaca College under Justin Benavidez and Craig Sutherland, and he holds a dual degree in Music Performance and Music Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he worked with John Bottomley.
